Helen Oshidari, 92, passed away peacefully shortly after being diagnosed with abdominal cancer. A long-time resident of Stockton and homemaker, she was active in Calvary Presbyterian Church, Oak Park Senior Center, and Tomonokai. Past volunteer services include co-chairing Stockton Council PTA’s public health committee in 1962; directing the organization of volunteers within Stockton for the “Knock Out Polio” campaign; helping start the Shimizu sister-city project during Mayor Dean DeCarli’s administration; starting the rummage sale for Calvary Presbyterian Church; and participating in the organization of breast cancer screening and education in the 1960s.
Beloved wife of the late Kenji Oshidari; mother of Ken N. (Jacquie) Oshidari of Stockton, Tom (Terry) Oshidari of San Jose, Berdi Oshidari of San Jose and the late Cary Oshidari; grandmother of Allyson (Brad) Sakai of Pasadena, Mark Oshidari of San Diego, Nathan (Tatia) Oshidari of Santa Monica, and Jon (Stacy) Oshidari of San Jose; great-grandmother of Regan and Carter Sakai, Aaron Oshidari and Kalea Oshidari; sister of the late Lorraine Oda; and aunt of Larry T. (Anne) Oda of Monterey.
Memorial service was held on Saturday, Sept. 6, at Calvary Presbyterian Church. Memorial donations may be made to the church at 2343 Country Club Blvd., Stockton, CA 95204. Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Mortuary was entrusted with the arrangements.
