Thomas Tomio Okamoto, a long-time resident of Alameda, retired employee of the Alameda Unified School District and lover of animals who pampered all pets, died peacefully at the age of 93 on May 22, 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nobuko; children Nancy, Dorothy and Thomas (Ruby); grandchildren Lauren and James; brothers Ken, Henry and Ray; sisters Lillian and Jenny; and 29 nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at Buddhist Temple of Alameda, 2325 Pacific Ave., Alameda.
