Obituaries

Grace Kimiko Nosaka, a long-time resident of San Mateo, died peacefully at San Mateo Convalescent Hospital Sept. 20, 2008 following a long illness. She was 90 years old and the daughter of Yoshi Moyikawa Hirayama and Tetsugoro Hirayama. Her husband of 59 years, William Nosaka, died in 2002.

Toshiaki Sakaguchi, 83, passed away on Sept. 14, 2008.

Surviving are: daughter, Pam (Keith) Uyeda; son, Gary (Debbie); grandsons, Scott and Jeffrey Uyeda; brother, Moto-aki Sakaguchi; sister, Kay Nakamura; nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service was held on Monday, Sept. 22, at Buddhist Church of San Francisco.

Ted Tetsuo Takahashi passed away on Sept. 25, 2008. He was born on Nov. 22, 1928.

Surviving are: wife, Irene Takahashi; daughter, Paige (Ko) Yebisu; grandsons, Michael, Scottie and Jackson; sons, Miles Takahashi, Byron Takahashi and Brandt (Georgiana) Takahashi; stepsons, John and Joey; sisters, Sue Okada of Gardena, Calif., and Sally Matsumoto of Torrance, Calif.; many other extended family members; and his faithful dogs, Preston, Minky, Skippy, Spotty, Knuckles, Shirley and Larkspur.

Hisao was born March 10, 1908 in Kobe, Japan, to Shiro and Kane Inouye. He moved to Los Angeles at age ten, and later attended Polytechnic High School, where he finished a four-year program in three years and was admitted to the California Scholastic Federation. He attended USC but left after one year due to health reasons. He worked for his uncle at S. Ishimitsu & Co., Ltd., located in the Little Tokyo district of L.A., and ultimately formed a branch office of the wholesale food import business in San Francisco. He had to close the San Francisco office shortly after Dec. 7, 1941.
