 <title>Contemporary Ceramics at Clark Center</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;HANFORD — The Clark Center for Japanese Art &amp;amp; Culture will present a special exhibition of Japanese contemporary ceramics drawn from the extensive collection of Natalie Fitz-Gerald, a collector now residing in Santa Fe, N.M.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This exhibition presents 54 modern works by 30 Japanese artists, representing a dialogue between past and present, and the evolution in thought and technique demonstrated in works of recent decades.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;SAN JOSE — ArtObject Gallery, located in the heart of San Jose’s Japantown, announces the opening of a new exhibit on Saturday, Nov. 15.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Featured will be:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mark Bryan, satirical artist; &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Mattie Leeds, clay pots and sculpted collage;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Michael Leeds, motorcycle sculpture;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Ken Matsumoto, stone and glass.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The public is invited to an artists’ reception on opening day, Nov. 15, from 7 to 10 p.m. Highlighting this visible feast will be wine poured by Brassfield Estate Winery, Japanese tapas from The Cook Club of San Francisco and live music.&lt;/p&gt;

The artists at Fort Mason in the Marina District on Oct. 11-12 included Taiko Fujimura (mixed media, painting and sculpture), Shari Arai DeBoer (etchings and watercolor), Noriko Kawamoto/Umi Designs (jewelry), Yuko Yuasa (printmaking) and Sachiko Green (printmaking and mixed media).&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Chroma Art Design, 218 Mississippi St. (at Mariposa) in San Francisco, is presenting Takeshi Nakayoshi&#039;s &quot;Azure Collidism — Harmonious Intensity&quot; until Friday, Nov. 14.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Nakayoshi was born in Osaka and resides in San Francisco. He received his BFA and MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&quot;Harmony mainly means rational, but emotion creates friction and intensity,&quot; Nakayoshi said, explaining the elements of his work.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Chroma Art Design is located near the Design Center in the Potrero Hill neighborhood. Parking is readily available.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>Boarding House Museum to Be Dedicated in Locke</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;LOCKE — The Harvest Moon Homecoming, a Main Street event, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Locke.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The Locke Foundation, California State Parks Department, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, and Locke Management Association will dedicate the Boarding House Museum, which was converted from the former Sam’s Rooms, a business that dates back to 1920.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The interpretive panels at the museum will include the history of the Kuramoto family, who lived in Locke from 1920 to 1941.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Author and tattoo artist Takahiro Kitamura (artist name Horitaka, apprentice to the revered Japanese master Horiyoshi III) will give a talk about the centuries-old art of traditional Japanese tattooing.&lt;/p&gt;

 <description>&lt;p&gt;NAPA — The Oxbow School, a studio-art-based semester program in Napa, is presenting its   fall visiting artist lecture series.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Japanese-born Mineko Grimmer offers her perspectives on art and design on Monday, Sept. 22, at Copia Auditorium, 500 1st St. in Napa, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Grimmer, born in Hanamaki, Iwate Prefecture, in 1949, received a B.A. from Iwate University. While working as a commercial artist, she moved to Los Angeles, where she earned a BFA and MFA from the Otis Art Institute of Parsons School of Design.&lt;/p&gt;
