The US military in Japan will resume mid-air refueling training exercises with its Osprey transport aircraft as early as Friday.
Training drills were suspended after an Osprey made an emergency landing on December 13th off the coast of Nago City in Okinawa Prefecture. The aircraft was engaged in an aerial refueling drill and was badly damaged upon impact.
Osprey flights resumed 6 days after that incident.
On Friday morning, multiple aircraft and an air tanker were seen taking off from US bases in Okinawa. But it is unclear whether refueling training exercises took place.
